Move From Soothing to Somatic Harnessing: Encountering Deep Emotional Content as Fuel in Self-Supervision

By: Glen Bradley (they), MA, LPC (DC), LPCC (OH), LPCMH (DE), NCC

Description:

This workshop will explore self-supervision practices for therapists that go beyond common mindfulness tools—supporting us to stay present, resourced, and responsive in emotionally charged times.

Noticing a lot of “freeze” after sessions? Come learn ways to shift out of shutdown and into embodied action—harnessing what you feel rather than fighting it.

This experiential training introduces participants to the Gestalt framework of the three zones of awareness—inner, outer, and middle—and explores how each zone holds unique entry points for processing deep emotional content. Through a presentation on theory and somatic experiments, attendees will learn to experiment with emotional-embodied content between sessions and how this content can help identify our own needs and where to focus our attention and energy in meeting them outside of the therapy session.
